One of the things i am finding to spend my time on while i'm waiting for it to go by is Science Olympiad. For those who don't know Science Olympiad is an activity where teams of 15 from schools go to compete in different individual events encompassing many areas of science, from ornithology to physics of sound, to disease, and even robotics of sorts.
State competition is coming up, and unfortunately our state is only allowed to take one team to nationals. This year though our team has a shot. It's a classic story, underdog school vs. prep school. The team that gets essentially 0 funding and so fundraises raising one dollar at a time vs. the team that has corporate funding. The team making a comeback vs. the team that has been dominating.
So with just days left our team is practicing. A lot. Hoping that hard work and dedication will win out in the end. On weekends, after school, at home. There's lots of designing, building, studying, and practicing going on. But thankfully that's only a supplement to the past 7 months of work.
State here we come!
Oh and the only issue with all of this, nationals is several hundred miles away, and the day before graduation. oops, guess i'll cross that bridge when i come to it.
